My summer holidays weren't only spent in sunny Italy, there was also a few days in not-so-sunny northern England. This time proceedings were enlivened with a visit from my friend Rick, who you might remember from our
château shenanigans back in 2012. Our time in Lancashire and neighbouring parts mostly comprised driving around for hours in the car, which wasn't actually as bad as it sounds. Rick, who is from LA, had never been to the north of England before, and I think he actually quite enjoyed seeing the countryside and Hadrian's Wall. And everyone loves a good pub lunch and pint of beer and/or cider! He didn't even seem to mind the constant Sandiego family singalong in the car, although that may have been because he kept falling asleep to avoid it...)

DeleteWell good morning from, not so sunny , Lancashire! I don't know how you slipped off my radar but I have not had your posts come up on my reader or email for ages...and look what I missed!.. you moved to Metz, started your new job and did a tour of Italy and Northern England!
ReplyDeleteOf course, the band of country across North Lancashire, Cumbria and Yorkshire are my favourite places in my limited experience of the world.....and did you know that Yorkshire dales has been named the third best place to visit by Lonely planet. Of course they have not visited the Ribble valley yet as it is a well kept secret!
So good luck with it all, the new life I mean, How I empathised with the angst of apartment hunting. Hope you settle in your new place, even though it was second choice. Practicality overcoming emotion in the end.

Thanks, yes I was a bit behind on posting for a while with the move and everything. It's been a busy time but trying to get back into the swing of posting and reading blogs. I'm glad that the move is behind me!
