Not a lot to report, we spent all day driving from Oslo to Sunndals
øra (see below). It was a fair old way, but we managed to make it without any major hiccups, with all of us in one piece and a decent mood - result! It was actually a very scenic route, running alongside a big lake for part of the way, and rivers most of the way. The later part of the route is also quite mountainous. I know it's a horrible cliché that people use about nearly anywhere in the world, but it really does look quite a bit like New Zealand! However, we are now nearly as far north as the bottom of Iceland.
Here's some pics and videos I took en route.

They're just waiting to collect enough samples |

View of Lillehammer, home of the 1994 Winter Olympics. You can just see (presumably) a ski run in the upper left. The red thing is the reflection of my iPad in the car window |
I try to follow the golden rule of cinematography: make as many rapid, jerky movements as possible in order to convey a sense of speed and excitement

Wow! It looks so gorgeous! It seems like it would be such a nice trip to make!
ReplyDeleteIt was! I didn't read or anything the whole trip (and it took all day). Bit sick of driving now though. The photos from the next day are even better
DeleteIt was really good! GM
ReplyDeleteAcne Archive. What the brouhaha?! What was that all about? Or was it something for Acne Denim, which I know is a Scandinavian brand.
ReplyDeleteAn acne archive museum, my teen years into my early 20's could certainly be an exhibit!!
Glad you're making the most of your summer, Gwan. xo.
I have no idea! I was lucky enough never really to have full-on acne, but still waiting for that magic age when you stop getting pimples altogether!
DeleteJust as a matter of interest, why did you chose Norway for a tour. Looks beautiful and very interesting. We end to chose places that easyjet fly to, LOL!
ReplyDeleteLove Denise.
Ryanair flies from Liverpool! The Oslo airport is miles away from the city though. It was all my dad's idea, being a northern lad I think he's obsessed with the idea of having Viking blood. That explains why he's berserk ha ha
DeleteErr, umm, What's this about VIkings being berserk? Where did you get that ridiculous idea, Gwan?!
DeleteI'm sure it doesn't apply to Norwegian-Americans, but that's where the word berserk comes from!

Ha ha! Ryanair and Easyjet have a lot to answer for! They have opened up the world (well Europe!) to the northern working classes like me. Now it is us who are invading them! Our Viking genes are coming to the fore!
ReplyDelete... and I too occasionally get spots, you are not supposed to get them when you are on a pension!! Still my oily skin is relatively wrinkle free, so there is a good side to it.
Ha ha invade away! The low cost airlines do have their moments, but it's great that more people can go travelling! Don't tell me that about spots though, I've spent my whole life telling myself "maybe when I'm 18 I won't have anymore... Okay, 21... 25... 30???" hope so with the wrinkles, just saw some crows feet for the first time, eek!
